I'm usually pretty disappointed when shooting full moon rises over a landscape due to the inherent flat lighting that falls upon the scene. Of course, every now and then, I get the bug to try it again like I did with last night's rising moon. This time I went for the "in your face" moonrise and used TPE to find a location about 4-5 miles away from Sedona's Mitten Ridge formation. This allowed me to shoot into the scene at 500mm and really bring out the moon. I tried to use the sun going behind a bank of clouds to alleviate the flat lighting issue a bit (not sure how this really worked out) so here you have it!
