Sunflower Galaxy - M63

This was an experiment from last week, as I begin to explore just how close to a full moon I can capture images when using Light Pollution/Narrow Band filters on my OSC camera. A combination of broadband images using the L-Pro filter, and then the stronger Ha signal from using a Narrow Band filter, the L-Enhance.

My first time capturing the Sunflower Nebula, it's a bit small in my setup, but this will be a great image to remind me later in the year that maybe a longer scope would make for a great Christmas gift. :)

Great shot - emphasizes the unique looking turbulence in the arms making this a 'flocculent galaxy' - another target on my list once I start with higher magnification.

Yeah, can't wait to see you capture this. The amount of detail you will get with the Edge, will put my image here to shame!

Potentially maybe, although once the magnification exceeds the seeing, it can be a case of bigger but as much more detailed as you might think. And there is just something about how a nicely corrected refractor telescope renders targets that is hard to match. Will ben a fun comparison though at whatever point I am able to give this a try.

Oh man.... I am searching with Google every day trying to see what I should get so I can get more reach... No idea yet, just tossing around a bunch of ideas. What will restrict me the most is my mount, it's rated at 28 lbs, so that eliminates a whole bunch of longer scopes. But its fun to window shop each day, it keeps me busy.... :)
