A friend of mine, Michael Hosluk, is a world renowned wood worker. I recently had the joy of spending some time with a couple of his pieces as we prepared some images for an online gallery show. Here are a couple of pieces for your visual pleasure.
This is a bowl made from Cherry and is about 6" High x 10" in dia. Mike does intricate detailed burning and colouring on many of his pieces.
Bottom of the bowl.
This piece is larger at 7.5" tall x 14" diameter. It is made from Yellow Cedar. Notice how Mike has skilfully used hand made copper staples to secure a number of hairline cracks that were in the wood.
