Stream in B/W

Natural, color, images of landscape scenes will always remain my preference but I admit that b/w is an excellent medium to remove distractions and focus attention on the essence of the scene. Here's an otherwise bright, colorful, scene that has been reduced to it's basic elements.

That’s a goodun Mike. I like how the tree arches out in a diagonal line meeting the diagonal of the river. The left corner going dark helps keep the eye on the river.

This does work pretty nice Mike. The fact that the overhanging branch is lighter in tone along with those grasses in the water really help keep them from blending into the background and losing depth.

Jimx2: Thank y'all very much. I worked the branch and stream for a pleasing composition but it was the patch of grass that I really wanted to work in the shot. It looks like it dripped off the branch (but then I see strange things sometimes) ;).

Yor black levels are delicious in this shot. I like how you didnt bend to trend and do a 30 second exposure, this one you can appreciate the properties of the water without it all being frothy mist.

Thanks much. I will occasionally get carried away with my exposure but typically keep it from 1 to 5 sec.
