Spring in Assynt day 3

Weather forecast, rain all day. Despite the forecast the first couple of hours were dry but overcast.
I knew about these small falls but had never photographed them. Very odd to take images with a strong smell of coffee from the stall 100yds away.

Down to Lochinver to have a look at the local river, again never photographed them despite often holidaying in this village. The water levels are very low but still a decent flow. This is a salmon river and the local angling association have produced a decent path making getting around easy.

While I was on the river the rain started so more waterfalls and on to Wailing Widow.
Instead of walking up the gorge to the falls I decided to cross the river above the falls and photograph from the top of the gorge. Three years ago I climbed up the sides of the gorge to this position and then back down. Looking at it now I must have been crazy to try it wearing Wellingtons.

Then back across the top and round and down to the bottom of the gorge to walk up to the falls, The water level was incredibly low making getting into position easy but keeping the front of the camera dry was difficult

A much shorter day this time. Still fun and lots of trudging across sopping wet ground but still enjoyable. Ken

Neat looking area and of course I am in love with the Wailing Widow waterfall complex. Beautiful falls from any angle. I like the little waterfall area near the coffee stand.
