Spring Gulls

Spring has been really late coming in our area. A number of different gull species come to breed in this area. The river running through Saskatoon provides a safe spot for many to congregate. They are often lifting off and flying around. Here are some images from yesterday.

A flock of California gulls sitting on a sand bar in the middle of the river .

The California gulls all look like fully mature specimens. I always found it curious that they don't reach fully mature markings until 3 or 4 years old.

I like your flight shots.

There are really great Trent. A Ring Billed Gull? I have never known they existed! Seagulls are so massive in Southern California they feel like a pest like crows, so I have never looked at them that close to know there was more then 1 kind of Seagull.

Thanks for the education!
