Last week, I was disappointed that the spotted coral root orchids had still not appeared where I had seen them 2 or 3 years ago. It more than made up for it on Sunday morning when I was walking my dog in the neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised to see numerous ones close by. They weren't in bloom yet except for 2 flowers on 1 plant. The next 2 days were hot down in town (approaching 90 degrees), so I figured that they would have gotten a boost with sun and probably about 70 degree weather. By this morning, the majority had some flowers, but there will be more to come. I'm used to finding 1 or 2 groupings (and a grouping may just be 1 or 2 plants), but they are plentiful in my new neighborhood.
Though this one wasn't blooming, the backlight was so good, I couldn't pass it up.
