Nicely done. I really like the sky, a closer look reveals the subtle pink clouds throughout.

I love backlit halos on cholla and you got a nice sunrise with them but I looking at all the little fur balls on the ground.
I still have mental scars from all the times I got impaled by those things as a child growing up in Phoenix and have never forgotten what it takes to remove them from bare skin.

Love the backlighting and soft colors. My experience with the cholla garden there is that pleasing compositions aren't as easy to find as I thought they'd be. You did well.

Very nice backlighting on this. Cholla's can be so cool to shoot, especially when backlit. Well, I take that back, viewing photos of Cholla's that have been backlit can be cool. But to actually shoot them can definitely be a huge pain in the butt... literally!
Have worn hard rubber steel toed work boots and still had the spines poking through or just sticking on the sole of the boots and not coming back out easily even when using pliars to try and remove them. Man... what a pain!

Beautiful lighting, Kyle. Anyone who has lived and photographed in the desert has stories of they were impaled by these spiny little buggers. I have accidently stepped on them with the back of my boot and had them pop up into my calf. I always have a comb and a pair of pliers in my glove compartment to remove them when I go out to shoot in the desert.
