Space Ship in Sky

Another night of Astro and stars last night in Joshua Tree. And another night of some clouds when there wasn't supposed to be any. Fortunately they cleared up about midnight. This morning, it didn't look like there was going to be any clouds, but this cool cloud formed to the west. So I was able to get a few nice images.

Nice way to start your day/end your night. Neat pastels to contrast with the desert forest. Joshua tree looks to be taking on some nice green tones this year.

Thanks Alan. It's that time of year when everything starts to look green. It is beautiful.

Sweet Lenticular Express?

Hmmm.... never thought of that. Maybe, but it wasn't big and I don't recall seeing Lenticular clouds in Joshua Tree before. Maybe @Douglas Sherman kmows why?
That is definitely a lenticular cloud. These are caused when air moves over a mountainous area and creates a series of waves in which clouds form in the peak of the waves. This process is weak at Joshua Tree so the clouds are not as well developed as they are along the eastern side of the Sierras or Mt. Ranier.

Thanks Doug! I knew you would have the answer.
