Snow Canyon State Park

Hi Y'all. I stumbled upon a video about hiking in the Snow Canyon state park in Utah, has anybody been to that park ? Is it worth stopping by for one day ? I can not find much information on the internet other than the Utah recreation website.

Thanks

Yup - it could be worth a side trip if you are down in that area. Good chance for red rocks and snow this time of year too.

I have heard of it in passing I believe. But I haven't been there. I am going to have to look it up now and see where it is in Utah.

So that's right out of St George. I am going to have to stop by there one of these trips, if nothing else but to explore a bit, it looks like some interesting topography.

You can fly a drone from the overlook, that's cool. But you have to email the permit 5 days before, so that's a bit of a pain, as I typically wouldn't know 5 hours before if I wanted to stop there.... I fly/drive by the seat of my pants too much I guess.

Alan, can you post some photos from there, it would be interesting to see. Oliver has me interested now, I think I need to make a trip through there later in the month.

I don't have any. My quick visit there was over 40 years ago. Lots of images on trip advisor
Yeah, I do look at the Trip Advisor images when I am exploring, but they are all point and shoot images, and they tend to be very lacking in quality and creativity. But they can be a good starting point.

It's a given they are point and shoot - consider who submits their images to web sites like that along with a review in the first place. The images do offer a clue to what the geology of the place is to begin with if nothing else.

Jim, I think when you enter the park you can fill in the form & pay for the permit on the spot, that' s what I did at Goblin Valley.

I will look for some images I stopped for a night on my way to white pocket

Ben, thank you. I saw some cellphone shots which really piqued my interest, hence I am asking. Out in the state park ,there are less people & less traveld roads; there are some rock features I would like to get a proper look.

Jim, did you stop at Red Cliffs National Conservation area by any chance ? I drove by St George & Washtington every time but have never went off I-15; although I could see the lands from afar.
