Snack for a gull

Not sure which species of gull this is, but there were sure a lot of them at the Bear River NWR last Sunday. I caught this one in a sequence where it was snatching a fish.

That's a really nice sequence.

I am so used to Utah seagulls being garbage birds I have never really watched them eating something more natural.

I have seen this along the coast but not in Utah. The largest aggregation for gulls in the Salt Lake Valley is out at the County Landfill. whenever I was about to take a load of remodeling debris out to the landfill I would tell my wife I was going off to commune with the seagulls.
