Sigma SD1 Foveon no UV/IR blocker

So is this a naked sensor and no filter on the lens also? It looks promising for color, maybe a few IR cutoff filters for your lens is in the future.

Very cool looking to see how it would look with no filter. It has an almost Aerochrome feel to it.

And I like the image itself with it composed looking down the road, I enjoy road and pathway images.

Thanks. Here's a screenshot from the Sigma proprietary converter, showing the dominance of red with the blocker removed.

.

I found the RGB conversion by RawDigger's LibRaw to be less drastic for many shots.

I gave up on the Sigma IR because of the lack of live view and got my Lumix DMC-G1 converted instead ... night and day ...

Sorry, I missed the question. Yes, on the Sigma DLSR cameras, there is a so-called "dust cover" in the camera's lens mount which is in fact a dichroic UV/IR blocking filter. It is easily removed by one's thumbnail and can be replaced almost as easily. As to cut-off filters on the lens to replace said dust-cover, that's not so easy because dichroic filters are incident angle-sensitive, e.g. B+W 486. I've tried various normal filters e.g. green, yellow, red and they can help, especially when going for the "AeroChrome" look ...
