Shoot Me

Yesterday I was wandering along the Wagon Road trail that follows Sweet Creek above the primary falls and came across a scene that just yelled Shoot Me. This is a grove of alders along a rather tranquil section of the creek that offered a fascinating set of lines that faded off into the mist. I used a Singh-Ray Vari-ND filter for a 20 second exposure to smooth the waters and emphasize the moss covered rocks.

C&C always welcome.

Hey Alan,

This is pretty cool looking. It's not easy getting a scene with mostly bare branches to not look too busy, but you did it here!

I am thinking I need to come up and visit this Sweet Creek. It looks to have lots of sweet photo ops!

Definitely a lot of places and things to shoot. I still have at least one more set of falls to shoot upstream from where I parked yesterday.

Zeph says to not head up there on weekends and especially in the summer. This is not a remote "no one knows about it" place and it gets crowded. People like to play in the waterfalls so shooting could be tenuous.

Fall seems to be the best time - close to when I came up here the first time for the leaves which was the end of October. My own hikes have all been on weekdays and my last two hikes here have been without seeing anyone else on the trails at all.

I really like how the light makes the edges of the trees in the background pop. Nice scene. I like how you presented it, reminds me of times I have walked into similar locations. Ah memories.

Very nice, Allan. I like the effect of the Avenue of slim trees framing the creek and I love that little ripple in the water you have caught.

Your title had me worried for a moment............
