Shadow Beacon

I got a fantastic color show this morning looking towards Mt. Hood which included a great shadow coming off the volcano peak projected onto the clouds. I guess it was the mountain casting shade on the day ahead with the next atmospheric river rolling in on schedule for another couple inches of rain today and tomorrow. I knew rain was supposed to hit us by around 9:00am but honestly didn't anticipate the colors in advance of the clouds at sunrise. I spotted the colors forming and dashed out the door just in time to catch the peak colors from above my house. Single frame at 70mm at roughly 140' above ground level.

That is such a fantastic shot Alan. That shadow is remarkable.
Thanks Trent - the shadow almost froze me in my tracks when I first spotted it out the window followed by a frantic scramble to grab my drone, run out the door, and get it up in the air while the sunrise show was still visible.

Alan, as everyone above agreed, a remarkable and timely capture! Very nice!
Thanks John - all we can ever hope for is to be ready to try to get the shot when Mother Nature drops a show like this in our laps. I feel like I got lucky today since I wasn't anticipating a sunrise photo shoot at all.
