Secret Canyon Waterfall

This is a very interesting waterfall that occurs just outside Sedona in an area called Secret Canyon. This waterfall only runs when there is sufficient snow melt on the mountains above the falls. It rarely or never runs during the summer time unless we have a huge monsoon season. It is a 3 mile hike one way just to get to this fall from the trail head parking area. I also might add that the road to the trail head requires 4 wheel drive vehicle.

That's a pretty respectable flow of water in this scene. Your point of view almost looks like you were standing in the water to shoot this. I like the shutter speed choice for this.

What a hidden gem. And a fine image. How deep was the water you were standing in?
Jeffrey,
Thanks for your comments. I was actually not standing in the water but on a rock. The canyon and water make a sharp turn where I was standing which allowed me to stand on this little rock that is right in the flow.

Hey Bob,

What a really cool hidden Gem. It's probably not as Secret anymore, but I can imagine for years that this would have been a really secret place to have shot.

I like the flow of the water, the longer shutter speed fits this well!

I think both of the images you've posted from here are great in their own way. I think this one would be a bit stronger with the top portion cropped as the dormant branches on top are a bit busy for my tastes. Also, this one seems to have a warmer white balance than the other one. You could maybe play with a cooler one and see how you like it.
