This is awesome! You got everything in this frame, sky, reflections and the mood!
I agree with Shibu, you nailed it Alan.

Jim makes a good suggestion too with the possibility of a B&W. For me, not because the color version is lacking but simply because this could lend itself to a B&W version also.

Very nice Al, I like the BW idea as well. I call this "Jim's Puddle", as it hit a perfectly a few years ago -- still one of my favorite images.

Thanks for the comments - quite encouraging for what I had to do to make this image work.

You did well given the conditions. Have you tried converting to B&W?

I tried running this through SilverFX last night but it exposed the dirty little secret about the shot - the sand was covered with footprints that I managed to mitigate in the color rendition. It wasn't an easy task but a combination of a healing brush in small steps in Lightroom combined with some selective gaussian blur in Photoshop made it work. The B&W conversion made this stand out like a horrible sore thumb and made the beach look like it had leprosy. I tried several different versions of SilverFX processing but couldn't find one that worked with the areas where I removed the footprints.

Bart - I had to chuckle over you calling this Jim's Pool since Jim was actually standing right next to me when I shot this a few years ago at PNW III. He declined to shoot the scene because of all the footprints in the sand. I don't recall you were at Second Beach that evening since I first met you the next night at Rialto.

Al, it was a morning or two later, and we caught an absolutely nuclear sunrise. Martin and I shot the color to the East, and Jim got this scene (with no footprints) and sweet morning light. How he always manages the sweet spots almost everywhere, I can't figure out. But I'm always glad to see them.

This is a great reflection scene. I think it stands on its own in color. A B&W might be nice but I know how that can get messy real quick.

nice reflection, and its all in good exposure too. I wonder if you moved right or left a little how it would look not centered.. prob the reflection wouldn't fit right
