Nice view and great that Rainier made an appearance for the sunrise.

Looks a bit on the windy side out over the Sound which is a match for what we have been seeing this morning down in Vancouver. Enjoy the cool day while it lasts.

That's a nice morning Jameel.

I like the view of the city. The zoom lens that Alan has on his drone sure would have been cool here too so you could get in tighter on the skyscrapers and Mt Rainier.

Thanks Alan. It was fairly calm from where I launched the drone. It was likely a bit choppy on the water. We have some 90s weather coming up next week.

Thanks @JimFox . Don't have that luxury with my drone, however a tighter view is available from the ground. The image below was taken around the same time.

I like the tighter view in the second image.

For the record my guess is the 7x lens/sensor on my drone would be too much magnification for the scene as you have framed it just above. From your original vantage point you would get a nice closeup of the mountain in 7x but unlikely you would have much of the downtown buildings in the scene. Its not a true zoom lens but more of an either/or for 1x vs. 7x and the jump is huge. I can zoom in using what Mavic calls Explore mode from 1x to 28x but anything other than 1x or 7x is digital zoom and you can do a better job in LR/PS.

Yes, that 7x lens would be too long. The tighter image is @ 77mm. A long lens on the Mavic 3 is 162mm I think.

I was guessing you were well below 100mm for the second image. 162mm is correct for the 7x focal length.

It sure would be neat to have real optical zoom on the drones with just the micro 4/3 sensor but that's tiptoeing into the range of the big commercial drones. ($$$$)
