Seal Rock - The View North

This is the view from Seal Rock along the Oregon Coast looking north. Seal is a small coastal community about halfway between Newport and Waldport with the usual collection of beach kitsch souvenir shops and candy stores along US 101 but not a lot else. They do have some basalt outcrops that break up the endless sand along this part of the coast so I stopped for some quick views. Taken with my old Mavic 2 Air drone and cropped to eliminate some featureless open water on the left.

I like the composition Alan. The water is a beautiful colour and the white wash around the rocks is eye catching. A drone does give such an interesting perspective.

Thanks Trent - I have driven up and down this coastline dozens of times and never saw anything like the views from the air and in particular the color of the water from above. The last thing I did before I sold my RV last spring was to take a trip down the length of the Oregon coast shooting from a drone everywhere I could pull off the road. This capture is from that trip.

Thanks Jameel - I have never been all that charmed with this little town until seeing it from the air. Perspective is everything.

I don't think I ever realized that there was so many sea stacks there in Seal Rock. That's great to see it from the sky.

I have been there a bunch of times, and the smallness of me always kinds of surprises me. You almost wonder why it's even still existing?

I had no clue there were that many stacks either until I saw them on my screen with the drone in the air. I can say the same thing about a lot of places along the coast the first time I saw it from the air and also looking back at the shore from out over the ocean.

Thanks Peter - that was the first time I had ever seen this area from the air like this and I can't wait to get back out there to try it again
