Check the link below and select the star link tab to see the spread of these satellites in low orbit (approx 540km). The clustered ones are recent launches and they have not moved into their final position yet. These are a small fraction of what they eventually want to launch. And this is just starlink.

it will be challenging to do Astro imaging without having them in your field of view.

Yep, they are a pain. Thankfully they changed the design so all of the newer ones are less reflective, which is better then nothing.

Your post is spot on. I have been fortunate so far to not have huge problems, but it seems inevitable given the sheer quantity of satellites we are talking about here. And it is one thing to impact us amateur imagers, but I cannot quite believe the scientific community, with the performance of its mega-million dollar telescope assets at stake, was not able to block this project or have its scope modified. Really some depressing trends for astrophotography with this going on to this level.
