Sandhill Cranes with Colts

It was really fun watching this family walk around and feed in the grass. I am also suprised on how calm they are with the colts around people.

Wow Joe! These are world class! I am thinking National Geographic quality.

What super cool images, and I had no idea the babies were called Colts. How funny in a way.

I like #1 a lot because of the adults, but also the way the one baby is laying it's head on the other. Then #2 is cool to see the baby walking, and #3 is awesome in how the baby is resting. And such great detail in both of those! I like #4 because the baby is looking at you, and of course the tender moment in #5 as the adult feeds the baby.

At what point do the babies begin to get the red marking on their head?

Excellent series. I love them all, but especially the last one. It's so sweet how bird parents take such good care of their babies, always watching them closely and making sure they're learning all the important lessons.
