San Ildefonso

The old church at San Ildefonso Pueblo, NM.
B&W with just a touch of sepia toning.
I loved the weathered gate. Really added to the feeling of age to the scene, I thought.

I like the shot and the mood it portrays.

You did get my curiosity up on the building since it doesn't really appear all that old and it turns out it isn't. The area itself was settled in the 1300's with an interesting history of the Tewa speaking tribes who still live in the San Ildefonso Pueblo but the church structure is a replica of the 1711 church. Construction on the replica was started in 1958 and and completed in 1968. (National Parks Service)

Thanks for that, Alan. It did look in great condition, but one could still feel the history about the place.
