I do recognize it Alan. Good scan. How was the Flint in those days? My first trip up it was easy, the next after some flooding was terrible, and the last no better.

Very nice, my first DSLR was also the 10D, it was a game changer from film.

I do recognize it Alan. Good scan. How was the Flint in those days? My first trip up it was easy, the next after some flooding was terrible, and the last no better.

Thanks Ben - the Flint Trail wasn't all that bad but it's worth noting that the road to the ranger station and the Flint Trail was like a freeway compared to the roads we were driving every day near the Head Spur.

So cool Ken! WIth the white branches, at first glance this looks like an IR image!

Here is one from 2005 with the Nikon D70 6mp camera. It's a bit soft, and a bit noisy from the low light. So I addressed that a bit with a crop and some cleaning up. I found it interesting in the color version that even though the sky is blue, the reflection takes on turquoise color. I left it alone, as that was the global white balance and made for an interesting view I thought. I also made a B&W version because of that dual shades of blue in it.

Jim, both of these came out fine. In 2005, we all blamed soft lenses for everything, maybe it was just low resolution. Hard to see any problems here at web size.

Thanks Ben. I was pretty naive I think in 2005, I didn't really think too much about soft lenses. In my head they were all pretty sharp I thought. So when images were soft, I always blamed myself for bad technique.

Me too. But I got roasted on the forums for softness. Better send your lens in they said. Do the battery test, look at the results at 200% etc etc.

Jim, never underestimate the power of D70, you can recover some details in the shadow.
