That's some pretty old construction on that edifice. Did you see any signs of metalwork on that site? The floor plan is decidedly not Native American but the construction using stacked masonry and a mud/plaster facade is pretty common for that area.

My family made a trip from So Cal to Iowa in 1948 when I was 8 years old. We drove RT66 when it was still the main route. Those structures might have still been in use then.
