Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex

The Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex is an area I have called the Antares Region as the Antares Star is the star of the show here, and I could pronounce Antares much easier then Rho Ophiuchi. :)

This was captured last week at the North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado. I set up 3 cameras for timelapses, and once I had those going I set up the Deep Space Astro gear to capture Deep Space. It was a great night for Deep Space Astro, clear skies and no wind. :)

My new Astro camera, the ASI2600mc Pro is so awesome! It is really great how easily it captures the colors of the Deep Space compared to how much I had to work to bring out the colors with the Nikon D850. And it's also awesome that with my new Astro mount the iOptron Gem28 and guiding I can do 5 minute long tracking. :)

20 - Lights @ 300 secs
3 - Darks
30 - Flats

Jim,

Glad to see you now have that astro camera going - as you say, even though the 850 did an amazing job for an unmodified camera, the dedicated camera with cooling has the advantage for colors and noise performance.

Great to start out with this area, one of the most colorful and interesting regions in the sky, with reflection and emission nebula and even a globular cluster in the field of view. Very nice work on this one!
