I shot this @ 1/250 as my panning skills weren't quite up to 1/60.
This was at Pylon 4 that we were picked for in a lottery of sorts.
Incredible shots are possible here but difficult. This bird was coming at me 400+

This challenger to Dreadnaugt (above) "MissAmerica", didn't quite have it and puked a motor after 3 laps.

These smaller classes had some close racing

Nice work Dan! #1,3 and 7 are my favorites with #7 as my pick of the best.

What a fun experience that must of been. I think your shutter speed worked out well. I think 1/60th might have been too slow? 1/250th seems just right for those props to spin just a bit.

This is a really cool set of images Dan. I am not going to pick a favorite since I find something to like in all of them.

Looks like an event for hearing protection - must have been a bit on the noisy side.

Alan, my problem is I like the sound & feel, even though I've got tinnitus from my time in the Air Force.
Actually the piston engine planes are not that bad. It's the jet class AND the Thunderbird demo

Jim, the "pros" do 1/60 & occasionally 1/30. The result is a full prop circle.
It's the panning skills at that S/S that I need to work on. They say skeet shooting helps!

Bit late finding this, It is exhilarating to witness a good air show even in bad weather, we don't get many here in New Zealand, much the pity. Your expertise shows in these superb images.
