Reflections in Green

Never quite certain where to post formal garden images but it is nature so this seems like a good place for this one. This is an area in the Portland Japanese Gardens just below the Moon Bridge with mid summer foliage and blooms.

A quiet scene at the Portland Japanese Gardens.

This is beautiful! Maybe an even lower shooting perspective would improve?

Definitely qualifies as 'nature', but would also be a different kind of landscape as well.

There are rather specific rules on where you get to go inside of the Portland Japanese Gardens. I had my tripod legs almost flattened out to get as low as this shot. Getting down under the bridge to shoot would likely get you kicked out. Tripod legs are not allowed to even touch the moss at the edge of the trails. I got reprimanded for that infraction once.

Wow! Very strict. Well, it shows in the presentation of the gardens - they are beautiful.

I am interested in the strict rules applied here and, in general, agree with the imposition of some sort of discipline to keep things in order and to protect the environment for others though there does come a time when strictness can edge into officiousness, which is something else again!

Judging by the poor behavior of people in other places, I can completely understand strict enforcement of their rules. Sometimes those restrictions make us, as photographers, work to be more creative.
