PS vs Gigapixel comparison

Starting a new thread. I took the andromeda galaxy image from Jim's post and cropped it 662 pixel wide as the base image. Upscaled it 2x, 4x and 6x with both PS and Gigapixel. Here are the results.

EDIT: The PS upscale is done with Image->Image Size, the resample to Preserve Detail 2.0 and the width/height value in percentage.

Interesting comparison - for this type of image I find the Gigapixel images a lot sharper than the PS results. PS feels a bit on the fuzzy side for the stars in the scene - esp. when it comes to the 4x and 6x versions.

I find a good way to compare is to load both of both in PS as layers and set the blend mode to "difference".

I will need to now download these and do as you say with the blending mode since they appear pretty close to identical from here.

Jameel, in your top post, can you list how you upscaled the photo in Photoshop, so that those who don't know how can see the way to do it.
