Pronghorn from Custer State Park

I went up to Custer State Park in South Dakota, with my oldest granddaughter (12) yesterday. It was a long day, 15 hours of driving from Colorado, but she told me after she had so much fun. From stopping at a zillion abandoned barns and windmills, to finally getting to Custer State Park, she had fun, so that was worth it.

We only had about 2 hours in Custer before sunset since we stopped a lot, we were excited to find these Pronghorn, I thought they were antelope, but found out they are Pronghorns.

I used my Nikon D850 with the Tamron 150-600mm and my granddaughter was using my D610 with a 70-300mm.

This is a short sequence of one of them grazing.

We call them antelope but the proper name is pronghorn one and the same animal

custer state park is a great place to explore. great wildlife and landscape opportunities. cool shots of the pronghorn.

In the Custer State Park literature they say that while Pronghorns are very similar to Antelope and can be mistaken for antelope, that they are in fact different. I was telling my granddaughter they were antelope until I read that.
