Portrait of a Tree in Winter

Rather hard to title this one! This is another photo where I deliberated a lot on the crop and ended up really liking this one. This was taken on a frozen hilltop and since everything was covered in frost, black and white just seemed natural. C&C welcome!

I like this - delicate icy tips with dark branches are a fun contrast. B&W was a good call for processing.

Interersting Amy. I think first off, that B&W is a great choice for this. I am having to think about the crop. Obviously cropping the top of a tree off is normally a no no. I like what you have, I am just trying to visualize if it would have been stronger with the top still intact.

Jim, I did try some other crops with the whole tree and foreground. It's a bit tricky to work with because I was shooting across the side of a hill.

I like the full size too, slopes are part of nature, I don't always require a level ground.
