Pine Trees at Red Rocks

Sweet shot - and a nice example of how the sandstone gets broken down. As the tree roots burrow down into the cracks they widen them and expand inside of the rock to help break them down even more. There will be another one down in front where the grasses and shrubs are setting things up for the next sapling to give it a go :)

I have another shot of a pine tree burrowing down in the rock and some roots snaking along the surface of the rocks looking for a place to burrow! In the next few days I will post it here for you to see and comments. Thank you Alan for the comments and narrative on roots borrowing into rocks! :)
Hi again Alan, below is mature pine with it's root structure snaking the rock looking for a place the borrow, kind of neat!
