Pacific Chorus Frog

Pseudacris regilla is also known as the Pacific Tree Frog and is just about everywhere in the Pacific NW area ranging from sea level to almost 10,000' elevation. They can apparently change color from brown to green depending on where they are trying to blend in to ambush bugs. Females can get up to 2 inches long and males are smaller. While they are all over the place in my yard they are quite difficult to see and very skittish in addition to being small so quite hard to spot until they are hopping away. I was doing some pruning in the back yard yesterday and spotted this one on a blueberry branch about 5' off the ground so was able to run back inside and grab my camera.

Thanks Michael - using a long focal length (560mm) so I could keep my distance helped me not spook this one too. We have a low growing strawberry ground cover in our yard so they can disappear instantly at ground level but I don't think they can just jump off from this height.
