Out For a Walk

This is a great way to start off this new street forum Jeff!

I don’t know that I have any street photography, but I think I am willing to go out some weekend and give it a shot.

You can shoot almost anybody/anywhere as long as you are using your phone. People stop acting normal when a DSLR on a tripod comes out.

It's always fun to try out a new style - best of luck, Jim! You better post some shots if you go out.

Alan, from what I understand the key is to be natural, subtle and QUICK. You won't see Streeters rolling around with a tripod and a 500mm tellie hooked on a giant 1DX. Most these days have a smaller DSLR or mirrorless coupled with a 35 or 50mm prime that they know like the inside of their hand. This allows them to get ultra quick shots (even from the hip) with more or less predictable results without having to take the time to adjust settings, recompose, etc. Candid moments are what they are after.

It's really an art form in itself! Not something I'm sure that I am suited for.:)

Just finding this shot. Love it, it has fine b/w treatment, human interest and a tad of humor (the rat on a rope). Well done.
