Hey Alan,

That's a pretty nice view you have. I am curious about the upper right corner. Did you purposely cut off the sea stack and leave that gap in the upper right corner?

My inclination is always to not cut things off and have gaps like that. But it is showing the backside with a tree in it, so I was curious if that was purposeful?

There wasn't much left in the sky show above at that point in the evening (you had already packed up and were somewhere behind me to the left) and I was trying to frame the shot around the last bits of light and the reflections in the trapped pool near my feet. I will have to go back and see if I tried framing it with the whole stack on the right or not.

Edit: I did find one more that had the full stack but it's also the last image of the evening and shows how little was left of the light.

I really like that second one you posted here! It communicates this great beach superbly! The light is subdued and lovely and I prefer the composition to the first one. The background detail of the further stretches of the beach glimpsed behind the stack on the right is beautiful.
This is very much how I remember Rialto through many years of shooting here.

PS did you ever identify the giver-of-scale? :D

The giver-of-scale is Bart. I can't recall if you came out to the beach that evening or if you were back in Forks.

Too funny Al. As the "giver of scale", as I recall, I received a second portion of Bubbles & Squeek from Martin, and a pat on the back from the beloved Adrian.

It was a wonderful time I will always remember. Thank you.
