New here, downtown Omaha

Hello all. I am new to this forum and have been lurking a bit. I decided I should join in order to interact and learn. I see some very high quality images.

I got into photography in high school when I wasn't as good of a skateboarder as my buddies..hah. I eventually used it as a job for a while, but have since moved on to other things professionally. My new growing family prompted a reinvestment in the hobby in the last couple of years. I mostly enjoy landscapes, cityscapes, nature, and macro photographs.

Here are a few from early this morning. I got a new tripod and wanted to go test it out and try a few new long exposure/night techniques out. Unfortunately, it was so frigid I only lasted an hour and most of the creative/multi-exposure shots intended for blending didn't work out too well. Any thoughts or opinions for future shoots are always welcome.

Very nice. I think I like the last one best. I just like the colors and it has lots of interesting shapes.

Welcome to the forum, I like this work, especially the last one and the 2nd is not bad either.

Nice start. I kinda like the second image but would add a suggestion for your next session - watch out for footprints in the snow and try to frame the image to avoid them. Moving a few more feet to the left and still keep your faming on your big building on the right would minimize their impact on the scene.

Thanks for the comments, all. I admit I didn't notice that single trail of footprints in that photo and now I find them incredibly distracting once you pointed them out. It was 3 degrees F with some wind for these photos, so that will be my excuse. I'm certainly humbled by the quality of photos on these boards.

It's a very good excuse. +3F is more than slightly distracting. I have shot in those conditions and would prefer not to repeat that exercise. :)

Hey Tyler,

Welcome to FocalWorld! It's great to see you posting some photos.

You got some really nice city scenes here, #1 is really nice. The other two are pretty good too. The great thing about posting your photos now, is this is when your photography will raise to another level. Often it's just tiny little elements that make the difference between a good photo and a great photo. And each time you post you will pick up something else, and the next time you go shoot your mind will automatically say, hey there are a couple of foot prints there in the snow, but if I step up 10 more feet, then there won't be and foot prints.

So keep it up! :)
