Christmas Lights taken at the
Ashville last Friday night. Burrrr 35 deg that night.

Why as a beginner do I seem to try to take the hardest imagery? Lights, brightness, dimness, different colors all hit my sensors at the same time lol

Feel free to point out improvement suggestions for next time.

Canon R8 using the 28-70stm 2.8 lens

You did really great Ed. What a super cool Christmas lights display they have there. And yes, with the Christmas lights it makes for some really hard exposures. I typically set my camera to under expose by 1 stop when shooting Christmas lights, but it can change depending on the exact display. Looking at the histogram is key and making adjustments to your exposures as you go.

Despite the difficulty, you did great.
