My Astrophotography Setup - So Far

My folks bought me a guide scope and camera for Christmas!

I set it all up today, cleaned up the wiring and installed all the programs needed for guiding/imaging/planetarium. I have it all working through a USB3 hub, so I only need a singe USB3 cable going to my computer.

The EQMOD Direct Cable I made myself with an FDTI chip I had laying around. Everything works great! Unfortunately, weather has rolled in, so I won't be able to try it under the stars for a while

I am going to use Astro Photography Tool, Stellarium and PHD2. I've used both APT and Stellarium so far, but still have to learn how to set up PHD2

That's a great setup Andrew! I know you have some bad weather for a few days now, but I am looking forward to when you can get out and shoot this! I am sure the results will be awesome.

Very nice looking setup.

I think my wallet just ran off and is cowering in a corner after I pulled up this thread

Andrew,

Looks like a very nice set up. You have some very capable gear to get seriously started with. Looks like you have paid good attention to cable management, which is a frequent source of issues for many people who just leave cables dangling and do not route things carefully. Just the effect of a cable dragging on the ground can be enough to negatively affect the tracking of subframes in many cases, and of course cable snags ruin sessions and can even damage equipment. So good job there.

That Stellarvue OTA is top quality, and will excel at any targets that fit well in its FOV. I think you will be exzcited tom step up to the ASI1600MM-cooled at some point (or perhaps a worthy successor comes along).

Looking forward to the stuff you are going to get with that set up. And PHD2 is pretty easy - let me know if you run into any issues.
