We were hearing from other photographers how this place had blue colors at sunset. It is brown during the day and right up until late in the sunset. We did sunrise there as well.

This is about 3 miles from Factory Butte. But there is another road closer to Hanksville that is on the other side of this valley looking west (this is looking east). The Mars rover expedition did it's testing out here and they still lhave a research station.

Great job with this other worldly landscape, Ben. That formation is the Mancos Shale. Very few plants can grow on this formation because of its high Selenium content.

It's also known as Skyline View or Overlook or Skyline View Overlook. Not sure it has been officially named. This durn dried mud in the valley changes color all day long. Check it out.

What a cool place, and you got some light too!
Beautiful capture, i would consider warping out the center rock, imho it does not add, just a distraction.
