Mid Winter Evening Light

If you go out to the Oregon coast in the winter you may find that there are a lot of evenings where you aren't going to get much color if any at all and will have to settle for whatever you can get. This image is from a January visit to Harris Beach State Park in an area called the Marine Rock Garden. Jameel's post in the Saturday Salvage thread reminded me of this view since parts of the scene he posted are in this image in the distance on the left. There are a few houses on top of one of the distant cliffs I usually clone out of the scene but in this case only the shape of the rooftops are discernible and I left them alone.

I like the big wave action and even with limited color, it is still a captivating image. Btw, the big rock looks a dog facing to the right.

Thanks Jameel - this scene was more photogenic back in 2016 when I took this shot. Most of the sand visible down in front in this scene has been washed out by storm surf and has never built back up again. Its still a great place to just plop down on a log or rock and watch the waves in the winter months.
