"MESMERIZING"

This is an image from Venice during Carnival 2023. It was captured at Piazza San Marcos during the early morning blue hour. Mesmerized is how I feel every time I look at it!

The models name is Manuela Reichert, @manuela.reichert.90 .

(02-18-2023) NOT an iPhone shot!

Alan - You have a good memory! Yes, we did return this year for Carnival. Actually, we spent six weeks in northern Italy. Three of those weeks were in magical Venice!

I did a brief daily posting of our travel experiences each day for 40 days. You can see them on Facebook and Instagram under my name, if you have an interest.

Thanks for your kind words.

Wow Tex,

Simply an awesome image. You really have the exposure down to a T on this. I am guessing there might have been a bit of trial and error at first? You certainly are producing great work now.

And I will add, maybe because I have known you as Tex for so many years, Carey doesn't resonate with me. But I will say, I still think Tex has more of an appeal as a brand then Carey. But again, maybe I am just biased.

Thanks Jim! I used an off camera flash for this early blue hour shooting. My adult daughter was with me; she was at a 45 degree angle to the Mask Models face and holding the flash high in the air. I was not experienced at this type of shooting. I purchased the flash system a few weeks before we left for the trip. Barry at Samys Camera was kind enough to give me 10 minutes of instruction. Leslie, my daughter, and I did a few test shots in the back yard a few nights before we left for Italy. After a few shots of this model I looked at the camera LCD screen and thought, "wow, that looks pretty good"! I called my daughter over and showed her and she was equally impressed. There were probably 6 to 10 photographers on each side of me - I turned my camera around and pointed the LCD screen at the model so she could see the image. She immediately made a bee line walking towards me, while fumbling in a small pocket for a card to hand to me with her contact info on it. The models do not get paid, nor do they expect tips. Their passion is costuming, just like ours is photography. They would like to get some digital images emailed to them. They frequently offer a card to the photographers that are using the fancy cameras, hoping you will be nice and email them an image. This model just about jumped out of that costume walking towards me while other photographers where in the act of shooting. She definitely wanted a copy of that image!

Regarding the branding and using my middle name: I had a website done two years ago for a very specific purpose and needed to make a branding decision at that moment in time. I decided I liked the sound of Carey Schneider better and would not have to explain my life long nick name to every single person if i got into this very special event I was auditioning for. I paid someone to set up the website and maintain it; but I have not done anything with it for the past two years. Now that I am retired I need to learn how to do it myself! :)
