Hello everyone,

just a quick note to let you know that Medium Format magazine's August 2019 issue is out, with my first column on! Here Olaf Sztaba's announcement:

MEDIUM FORMAT MAGAZINE - AUGUST 2019

The August issue of the Medium Format Magazine is here!
From a fascinating opening piece from Tomasz Lazar to an exclusive and engaging interview with Sean Tucker, we present 160 pages of ad-free, highly curated content you won’t find anywhere else. Make sure to check out our new HOW IT WAS SHOT section with Steven Friedman sharing the story behind his image. Also, Vieri Bottazzini debuts his new column, “Vieri’s Landscape Musing.” You will find rivetting writing and great imagery by Lloyd Chambers, Ibarionex Perello, Lori Levine Ordover, Spencer Wynn, Alex Burke and Ian Howorth.

The Magazine is subscription-only, so - with the Magazine's Chief Editor's permission - I can only share a short excerpt here and an image out of my article, "Shades of Blue":

"Much has been said about the birth of ideas. Ask as many writers, visual artists, composers, inventors, engineers and business people as you want, they will all give you a different description of finding the recipe, gathering the ingredients, mixing them and cooking the dish at the right temperature before they succeed. I concluded there is simply no universal recipe to cook a good idea and no shortcuts to creativity. We all need to work on ourselves, find the process that works for us and cherish, nourish and strengthen it.

..."

If you are interested in subscribing to the Magazine, it is my pleasure to announce that code VIERI20 will grant you a 20% discount on a yearly subscription. Check it out here: https://mediumformat.com!

Have a great day, best regards

Vieri

I like your article excerpt's musings - well worth pondering. The shot you have included here is almost hypnotic to gaze into - very nice.

Congratulations on being selected as a contributor for this media.

Congrats Vieri on your first article with this magazine. I enjoyed the excerpt, and I don’t subscribe to any online magazines, but I will admit this one is very tempting.

Hello Jim,

thank you for your kind comment, much appreciated :) Well, I definitely see your point, I subscribe to paper magazines but not to online ones as well, generally. However, I think that Medium Format Magazine has some unique features, which might or might not appeal to you of course, and which make it not really comparable to any other magazine out there, paper or not. Here they come, in my view at least:

1. Is professionally curated;
2. Is professionally edited;
3. Articles are exclusive, you won't find them on someone's blog one week after;
4. Is beautifully done (subjective, I know)
5. The names and quality of writers and contributors (also subjective, perhaps, and of course present company excluded :) );
6. Is substantial (August issue had 150+ pages)
7. Is completely ad-free, so you get 150+ pages of content, not the half of it like with most online and pretty much all paper magazines;

Plus, you could get a single issue to try it out and make up your mind - I think the VIERI20 code should work for that too, and you'll find out what happens to the Shades of Blue in the process! :)

Have a great day, best regards

Vieri
