Mediterranean Spurge

Euphorbia characias is a plant from the Mediterranean region of Europe. It is described as drought tolerant and likes a low water table which seems curious since I found this specimen in someone's yard near the harbor area of Florence Oregon which is about 10ft. above sea level at best and gets 60+ inches of rain/yr. From a spring visit a few years back.

Interesting looking plant and the top down view really works well.
Thanks Jameel - not a plant I have seen often which is what caught my attention when I saw it. No clue why the plant appears to be thriving in the soggy lowlands of Florence given its origins.

That is a very unusual plant! And it's so curious how you rescued it from conditions it's not supposedly made for. It sure looks healthy in your yard.

Thanks Jim - this was in front of someone's house in the old town part of Florence. In front of my house would be more suitable although SoCal might be more like its native environment.
