Massaging the Backbone

The Devil's Backbone is a cool little area on the way into Rocky Mountain National Park. This is in the flatlands just before you get into the hills. It's a fun little area with some nice trails for hiking or riding, and of course the backbone is so photogenic.

This was sunset on an evening last year.

And I thought my vertebrae were getting stiff

Neat to get the cloud color show over the formation like this.

Nice color show. Don't understand the fascination with naming the places after the devil, however.
Thanks Jameel, I totally agree with you on the naming. In fact I avoided places like the Devil's Postpile for decades because of it's name. And it's one of the reason's I don't like Zion, because of the names from the Mormon Religion on every structure.

Neat photo, Jim. Excellent lighting conditions and processing. It looks like the vertebrae of some prehistoric creature.

Nice, Jim. I always appreciate that formation as I drive into Wyoming, but it seems like it's always mid-morning with clear skies. Or on the way back, I'm tired & have just a couple more hours until I get home........
