Marine Heart

The Bristlecones had my attention this summer and this was among my favorites. I haven't been to slot canyons enough to be able to capture the feeling of them, but the quality of the bristlecone wood reminded me of them.

This could easily be over in the abstract forum - the wood grain is pretty intriguing.

They really are great for textures and shapes. The rock in the middle really does anchor things.

A very nice tight shot of a Bristlecone. It's amazing how they grow around and through rocks, or have rocks growing through them it often seems.

Thanks for the comments Alan, Kyle, Jim, and Barry (and Ben too for the like). It's difficult to comprehend how much time it took for this amount of soil erosion to expose the roots in this way.
