Lynd’s Dark Nebulae in Camelopardalis

My project for the Winter was to capture this area of dark nebulae in the constellation of Camelopardalis. I have imaged this before, but this time I wanted to include OIII data in an attempt to reveal the Thor’s Lightening (the blue colour in the image). The OIII signal is very faint, so I knew that capturing it was going to be a challenge, especially as I was using the OSC ASI2600MC camera and the Optolong L-eXtreme dual band filter for the Ha and OIII.

I might go back again next year and add more data, but I think that this is probably pushing things to the limit of my set up and location.

Ha / OIII; 8 sessions totalling 32 hours (150s exposures)

RGB: 2 sessions totalling 9hrs (150s exposures)
