Loch Tollaidh, Wester Ross, Scotland

Ok, finally back from our holiday and ready to get active here ...
These are from one of my favorite locations in Scotland. The first one was taken with a 10-stop ND filter to smoothen the water. This creates an interesting contrast between the hard rocks and the silky water.

And here's another one with some beautiful evening light

Hey Carlo,

It's great to have you back from vacation! :)

#1 is a cool contrast with the details of the rocks with the smoothness of the water. I like #2 also with that ground layer being lit up, while there seems to be storm clouds in the background. The contrast of sunny vs storm is great.

Nie pair Carlo - I do like the rocks and the water texture of the first image with the swoop clouds but the sunlit rocks in the second with the foreboding storms in the mountains behind is a neat scene as well.

Carlo, great photos. Love those great rocks popping right out at you -- a great subject. #2 is also very attractive; the strong color and soft background work well together.

Good stuff, Carlo. I remember that little loch from our trip. The wind was howling and there were white caps on the water!
I'm partial to the 2nd here, for the striking contrasts of the light on the land and the moody sky.

You're right, Barry. Often the wind is so strong there that it ceates waves on that little Loch that would suit an ocean :)
And that combination of dark clouds and sun is quite frequent there. You just have to wait for the right moment.

Hey Carl. Glad to see you back from another Wester Ross trip!

Super shots. I really like the contrasted textures in no 1 and, of course that light you have captured in no 2 is so typical of Northern Scotland - and therefore wonderful! I think I also saw a couple of shots from Inverasdale near where our family stayed a couple of years ago!

Yes, I was at the beach there one evening with the dogs. There's a picture in my holiday album on Facebook that's taken there.
