Li River Sunrise

Whoa - that is an almost surreal scene. I have seen images of the topography before but not in this kind of light. The mist/haze adds some nice depth to the hills and the sky colors are a neat overlay.

An interesting shot with unique geology peaks. Without knowing much about China geography, is that smog or fog in the image?

Hey Kyle,

That is pretty cool looking! I love that mist/fog and those peaks/hills are so unique. They definitely make a composition stand apart.

Thanks Alan - as much as I wanted a little more clarity in the skies, I like the moodiness of the mist.

Very moody and peaceful looking. I like this one.
Thanks a lot Ben!

It is fog/mist. Spring is a very "wet" time in that area. I've been there twice in March and ran into the same conditions. My guide has sworn that it goes away by June or July.

Absolutely Jim - I think of it as Dr. Seuss country.

Lovely, Kyle, with so much atmosphere. Those peaks are so very Chinese-formal-landscape. As well as the light, mist and colour, I love the curve of the river through it all.

Wonderful looking.
Thank you Steve!

Kyle,
Beautiful shot, when I stood in that spot all you could see was middle gray :)

If I recall correctly we've traded some China stories in the past. It took me a couple of trips to this area to find some decent light!

That's downright spooky, and very cool! Beautifully done!
Thanks Barry!

Very moody. For me, this begs for "black & white". Would be even better if the foreground was more foggy.
I'll have to give that a try - could be interesting. I wouldn't mind if some fog settled into the right spots to obscure the buildings...

Thanks a lot Martín - I really love those karst peaks.

To wonder in those hills! Well done.
Thank you - we had a nice hike through the countryside after breakfast. Lots to wander through...
