Li River Sunrise

I took this a few years ago in Yangshuo, China. While on a business trip I managed to take a detour over a weekend to check out the Li River. We hiked to the top of this peak for a sunrise view.

Whoa - that is an almost surreal scene. I have seen images of the topography before but not in this kind of light. The mist/haze adds some nice depth to the hills and the sky colors are a neat overlay.

It is fog/mist. Spring is a very "wet" time in that area. I've been there twice in March and ran into the same conditions. My guide has sworn that it goes away by June or July.

If I recall correctly we've traded some China stories in the past. It took me a couple of trips to this area to find some decent light!

I'll have to give that a try - could be interesting. I wouldn't mind if some fog settled into the right spots to obscure the buildings...
