I did not want to skew the show with my own version of this image, not that it's great anyway, but I wanted to see where others would take it. I tried to add it this morning, but I guess that thread is closed as it should be. So I am putting it here.

I like this one, as it is not so turquoise, but yet still has some & also has the blue. And the color of the front rocks on left are not so pink :)

Awww that is sweet....I did pretty good then! Thank you for doing this so we could learn! sometimes we just need a little push to get out & try and continue to evolve our photo's.

Glad you like these. I have two more then I am out of ideas unless we work on something other than DR. I did take some blue out of that image and like it better.

yes me too! It just looks more real now! What about just a single file editing. My friend took this shot & she made it BW and added Nik effects, which I am just not too into, maybe she did too much. I thought she should do it in color, so she graciously let me play. So I thought I could make a copy, under expose, over expose and then her exposure and blend it & I just can't get it. So this is my single version. I tried darkening the road some but the highlights on it are just so bright. I posted her image also & told her I would get my edit critiqued. So I guess I need to put this in the critique thread, but maybe we could work on single files!

Absolutly Darcy. There is lots of stuff to learn besides DR. Like color adjustments, or cropping, or as in this example, how to manage a single image with blown elements.

Your treatment of your friends image looks pretty good to me.

She just has such a great shot in my opinion and I would like to see her get the most out of it. I am trying to get her to join Focal World as a learning tool, so if we could show her a couple things it may help her like you all have already helped me. I have also posted my BW version, but ultimately it is her vision. Then again I love road shots LOL

Might be a good recruitment tool. Nothing wrong with your friends image either.

There is a lot going on with critique.

1. What is your vision and how to achieve it?
2. Is your vision well received and if not, do you care in the end? Over time your vision probably gets refined.
3. Many times we have a problem and need help to solve it, this is a great use of a critique forum.

No her image is gorgeous, and she loves the Nik effect, so if that is what she is into it is great. But sometimes we need to see thru others eyes, especially if we do have something we just can't get like we want it. And we can take the critique with a grain of salt or we can apply some of the suggestions and see if we like them. We may get butt hurt for a second, but that is all in learning. When I 1st joined I thought I shouldn't be in this Focal World, but in the short time I have been here I feel I have improved.
