Lesser Sandhill Cranes

Cranes are getting ready to head north to their summer grounds and the ponds are drying out at the local refuge. This one form 3/3.

You must be pretty close to the cranes! They are sure loud. I got some last weekend, but they never came close enough to really hear them very much.

Very nice video, especially in the cranes flying.

Thanks Jim, yes, pretty close. Shooting raw and recording in ProRes Raw with a 100-400mm lens in crop mode, so about 560mm equivalent. Not more than 100yds I think. They do make a racket don't they?

Thanks Ben! It's fun shooting the cranes. They'll be leaving the refuge soon, if they haven't left already. Back to their northern summer grounds.
