Late afternoon sunshine on Slioch with new images added

Loch Maree is one of Scotland's prettiest stretches of water. I took this as the afternoon was fairly advanced but still a few hours until sunset. When I returned 90 minutes before sunset I found that the mountains behind me had blocked the light out of everything apart from the top of Slioch, the main mountain shown here. I must try and remember that the light often departs long before the official sunset. Ken

I love the light and the foreground trees in the first image. Good atmospherics in that image as well. I find that image more appealing than the darker version shot later on.

This is often the case where light goes away an hour or more before sunset. Always good to know your place and plan accordingly. I like your early shot. Unless you must have golden light, this is the best way to get it..

Like the first image Ken. Very pleasant light and the foreground trees in the shade work well with the hills lit with soft light. The clouds help too.

What a cool area Ken! Since my moms side of the family came from Scotland I always enjoy seeing photos of it.

Beautiful captures, Ken. Your landscape is so breathtaking. For us Stateside, Scotland is the far away place of fairy tales and epic movies. It's so idyllic. I always look forward to your posts. You have this way of revealing its timeless essence - a feeling of grandeur and antiquity.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Here are another 3 images from the same day and location. Weather in Scotland is very difficult to predict. I had driven across the country, about 1 hour as it is very narrow at this point, because the forecast for the East coast was dull, wet and cool whereas here on the West it was glorious and warm for the end of October. I hope to return this year but it depends upon the state of the virus. My wife attends a traditional fiddle workshop at Beauly but as it brings participants, many of whom are getting on a bit, from most of the world it may not go ahead. We can only hope. Ken

I like the new additional shots - gives me a much better view of the overall scene near that peak. Neat trees in that area.
