Last Light at the Toadstools

With strong, sustained, gusty winds and the early evening sun directly in our field of vision, the ride to the Toadstools west of Page, AZ, was a miserable one. But, the walk from the parking lot to these formations was pleasant enough with clumps of blooming wildflowers. We watched the day's last light kiss these formations. It was mostly quiet, save for a pair of older photographers who set up shop for an attempt at shooting the Milky Way. As with all geology, the time and process for these formations to take shape boggles my mind.

The ride back to Page in twilight was positively peaceful.

One of my favorite places along US89 although riding into the sun from Page could really do a number on your eyes. I like the selective light on the hoodoos in both images. I might be inclined to clone out the power pole in the background in the second image if this were my shot.

Like Alan, this is one of my favorite places to stop. I have stopped there so many times. Often at sunset if the clouds in the area look good, then I will time it so I stop there.

Great job on these.
